Attention Dieterich Residents. The below information will be emailed to you and sent in letter form with your upcoming water bill. If you do not receive emails from the Village, please call Village Hall at 217-925-5410 to provide us your email address.
The Village of Dieterich’s contract with Doty Sanitation for residential trash service is expiring on January 31, 2023. The Village recently went out to bid for residential trash service, and Sanitation Service, Inc., was the low bidder. The contract with Sanitation Service will begin February 1, 2023.
Your last trash pickup with Doty’s will be Tuesday, January 31, 2023. Doty’s will be removing their orange toter that day. If you have more than one toter, please be sure to set both Doty’s toters at the curb for pickup on January 31st.
Sanitation Service plans to have your new maroon toter delivered to your home before January 24th. There will be about one week when you will have both the Sanitation Service maroon toter and the Doty’s orange toter at your home. If you currently pay for an extra toter, you will be given an extra toter by Sanitation Service.
Sanitation Service’s new pickup day will be every THURSDAY, starting on February 2, 2023. The monthly price for your residential trash service will be decreasing to $14.50 per month. The additional toter fee will also be decreasing to $8 per month. Every following February 1st the monthly trash fee will be increasing by 3%, but the extra toter fee will remain $8 each year.
Speaking of trash, this is a friendly reminder that only human waste, water, and toilet paper should be flushed down your toilet. Everything else should be thrown in the trash. Dieterich has recently experienced sewer problems associated with items that should have been thrown away, not flushed.
