Pivot Energy, CEFS Economic Opportunity Corporation Seek To Reduce Energy Costs With Weatherization & Energy Assistance Programs

Pivot Energy, a leading national renewable energy provider and Independent Power Producer, is helping C.E.F.S. lower energy costs for low-income residents in Effingham County through a $10,000 donation. The donation to C.E.F.S is part of Pivot’s community impact program, which has contributed $250,000 to Illinois communities across the state where Pivot develops and operates solar projects.

C.E.F.S. helps low-income families keep warm during the winter and stay cool in the summer through C.E.F.S.’s Weatherization Program and Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) emergency furnace funding. Kevin Bushur, C.E.F.S. CEO noted, “This funding will directly help families in our community by supporting weatherization and emergency furnace measures that are not paid through our state and federal funding.”

In Illinois, Pivot has supported energy assistance, weatherization, workforce development, apprenticeship programs, agricultural education, land conservation, and other efforts. In addition to C.E.F.S., Pivot has recently made donations to Springfield Urban League, Illinois Central College Foundation, McHenry County Farm Bureau Foundation, Natural Land Institute, and HIRE360, among others.

Donations are only one facet of Pivot’s efforts to benefit the communities where it builds and operates solar projects. The company will pay an estimated $5.7 million in property taxes on its 22 operating Illinois solar projects.The property taxes will support local public services such as schools, roads and public safety, over the next 40 years.

The company is also committed to dual-use agricultural practices, such as sheep grazing, at all its qualified projects, which creates opportunities for family farmers and graziers while contributing to soil health and preserving the land. Additionally, each megawatt of local solar and battery storage capacity Pivot builds helps ensure Illinois residents have access to more reliable, homegrown, lower cost electricity.
