Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The extreme heat continues, with a slight reprieve over the weekend.
Hot and humid weather will persist through this weekend with afternoon heat index values forecast to remain near or above 100 °F. The prolonged nature of this heatwave will have cumulative health effects to those most vulnerable to heat stress. The late summer heatwave will stretch through the beginning of the weekend before conditions cool slightly by the end of the weekend. Little rain is expected, but isolated showers and storms are possible this afternoon & this evening, and again late Friday night into Saturday.
Be sure to prepare for the heat, and limit exposure to the elements during this heat wave.
