Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- There remains a fair amount of uncertainty as to the overall evolution of today’s severe weather threat, but a level 3 risk has been introduced for areas northeast of a Paris to Peoria line. Damaging winds, potentially above 70-75 mph, are the primary threat.
Timing the storms remains a challenge, but the highest threat appears to be in the 3-8 pm time frame moving from north to south. Remain alert for severe weather later today.
While the work week starts off with oppressive heat, a cold front will bring temperatures back to more comfortable levels the remainder of the week. Another thick amount of smoke will move into the area on Tuesday, though this should mainly be aloft and not significantly reduce visibility at the surface.
