
Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The Effingham County Board met on Monday and recognized an important past member of the Effingham County Airport Commission.
Effingham County Board members recognized the family of the late Tony Siemer Monday, honoring his 51 years on the Effingham County Airport Commission, including more than 20 years as chairman.
Siemer died last October at age 81. His wife, Diana, and other family members attended. Officials noted one of his final major projects, the east-west runway extension, will be dedicated August 20th.
The Board also awarded a $221,450 jail roof bid to Joiner Sheet Metal and Roof, approved $7500 in hotel-motel funds for the Effingham County Fair, certified election judges, and approved salary resolutions for the sheriff and public defender. Members also backed disaster response and business re-lending grant applications, a downtown drop box for tax bills and ballots, transit service agreements, and nearly $50K for County Office Building parking lot improvements.
