
Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- Four additional states are being linked to the massive cyclosporiasis outbreak.
According to a CDC official, Illinois, Kansas, Oklahoma and Pennsylvania have been added to the outbreak that already includes Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and West Virginia. These nine states now have related cases of diarrheal illness caused by the microscopic cyclospora parasite, with health departments reporting over 12-thousand cases so far this summer.
The cluster is being investigated by federal and state health officials.
