24 hours removed from Altamont last took the court, the Indians traveled to Greenville to take part in the Comet Shootout. Altamont squared off with state ranked Breese Central and it was the Cougars who came away victorious 63-42.
The game started out with a defensive struggle with both teams in the first 6 minutes a combined five points. Altamont would get some good looks but unfortunately it seemed as if their was a lid on the basket on their end of the floor. Wyatt Phillips would finally get Altamont on the board. Even with the tough night shooting Central wasn’t able to fill it up (at least early on) either. The Cougars would make a couple of threes and a Mason Shubert backdoor cut to the basket gave Central the 8-4 lead.
Not too much changed for the Indians as it continued to be a struggle to get anything going offensively. Central would extend their lead going on a 10-0 run to start the second quarter. Cougars would get a pair of threes from Cody Dickshot and seven from Chase Lewis to have the lead up to 26-15 at the half.
Altamont would make some noise in the third and claw their way back within ten, with some threes from Keinon Eirhart and Kaidyn Miller. Just when Altamont would get some life the Cougars would go on a run and put it out of reach again going up 44-32 after three.
Central would eventually stretch the lead out to 20 and would put the game away in the final quarter 63-42.
Altamont falls to 5-3 on the season and return to action traveling to Casey on Tuesday.
Breese Central improves to 9-0 on the season.
