Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The Effingham Noon Rotarians heard from a representative of Homewood Grill and also an Effingham High School Student at their meeting on September 28th.
Effingham Noon Rotarian, Chuck Poulin, served as the weekly chairman at this meeting.
Homewood Grill is set to close for the season on Sunday, October 2nd, and plans to move into a new location for the 2023 season.
Homewood Grill owner, Kevin Stunden, spoke to Rotarians about the plan to move locations to the former Taqueria Don Pedro location on West Fayette Avenue after approximately 70 years at their current location on Willow Street.
Stunden stated that this move gives him and his wife, Beth, the opportunity to own the building in which Homewood Grill is located and also the addition of a drive-thru lane.
Among the discussion was if indoor seating will be available in the new location (Stunden said maybe to this), they will have the same menu with a couple of surprises, and the Stundens have not yet decided whether to operate year-round.
Stunden did tell Rotarians that they might enter one of their ice cream flavors into a national contest due to the reception it received.
Rotarians also heard from Effingham High School Student, Riley Crain, as the Weekly Student Guest.
Crain is the son of Dawn and Joe Thies and is a senior, starter on the EHS football team, president of EHS Student Council, on the Competitive Cheer Squad, in History Club, in Health Occ, in FCA, and has been on the Honor Roll for four years.
Crain plans to attend college following high school to obtain a degree in nursing, before obtaining a nurse practitioner’s degree.
Among his future career plans is to eventually run for local political office.
