Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- At approximately 2pm on Monday June 8, 2026, the Effingham County Coroner’s Office was notified by the Effingham City Police Department of a death at 1809 W. Fayette Ave. in Effingham, Illinois. Deputy Coroner Lauren Heuerman and Coroner Kim Rhodes arrived and were advised that the trucking company from Texas was attempting to locate their driver, who was parked at that location.
Effingham City Police located the vehicle and discovered a deceased male in the cab of the semi. The individual was identified as John Savelli, age 50, of Humble, Texas. There were no visible injuries or trauma to Mr. Savelli. The Effingham County Coroner’s Office transported Mr. Savelli to the Effingham County Morgue and notified next of kin in Texas.
Toxicology samples were taken and medical records were requested from the primary physician in Texas. Toxicology results should be available in 2-3 weeks.
Preliminary investigation indicated that Mr. Savelli’s death was natural.
The investigation is continuing by the Effingham City Police Department and the Effingham County Coroner’s Office.
