Effingham’s first Crisis Nursery is set to host an open house today from 3-7 PM. Staff will be on hand to give tours of the center throughout the day with a special announcement set for 5:00. The facility has not yet opened its doors, but staff have been working since last year to convert the building into a fully functional child care center.
The nursery provides 24-hour emergency care for kids, infant-6 years old, when their parents or guardians experience some sort of crisis. Crisis situations could range from medical emergencies to domestic violence. The center has no income or demographic guidelines, so anyone can use their services in an emergency.
The Crisis Nursery of Effingham County is located in the old Silk Purse building at 924 N. Merchant Street in Effingham.
