Chicago, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The Archbishop of Chicago, Cardinal Blase Cupich, is joining a federal lawsuit challenging a new right-to-die law in Illinois.
The measure set to go into effect on September 12th will allow doctors to prescribe medication to terminally ill people to end their own lives. Cupich, along with two orders of nuns and a pharmacist are suing to block the law, claiming it’s unconstitutional. The cardinal released a statement saying Catholics oppose efforts to undermine human dignity by pushing people toward suicide.
