Altamont traveled to Neoga on Tuesday night for another NTC matchup and a rematch of the conference tournament. The margin of victory was a lot wider than the first time around but the end result was the same. As Altamont continues to roll with another win, 82-55 over Neoga.
Neoga started off the game great as they fed off the home crowd energy. Landon Titus made a three to start the game and back to back jump shots by Quintin Richards gave Neoga the lead 7-0. Richards would keep it going in the first, opening up with nine. Altamont would eventually find their footing, as the offense started finding Eric Kollmann in the post. Eric poured in six in the opening frame. Mason Robinson in his second game back gave a spark off the bench. Mason took over the game scoring eight in the opening quarter. Coach Niebrugge said in the post game that Mason came in and took over and said, “WE ARE NOT LOSING THIS GAME.” In a quarter that saw four ties and three lead changes the game was tied at 21 after one.
In the second quarter Altamont kept it going as they would jump in front 25-24 in the early in the quarter. Dillan Elam made another three and Robinson made a couple from long range to give Altamont the lead and some breathing room. Robinson would finish with 13 first half points. Logan Cornett would pour in six points in the quarter as well. Altamont would have the lead up to double digits 35-25. Neoga would the quarter nicely with five points from Trey Sheehan. Altamont would have the lead though, 37-31 at the half.
Altamont would take over in the third, as Robinson would score nine in the quarter to finish with 22 points on the night. Altamont would put the clamps down on defense as well. The defense holding Brady Reynolds to just five in the game and holding Neoga to another ten point quarter. Altamont would take the lead 63-41 after three.
Both teams would unload the benches in the final quarter. That was not before Richards poured in 12 second half points, finishing with 26 on the night. Kaidyn Miller for Altamont came in and scored six quick points as Altamont would go on to win 82-55.
Altamont improves to 22-3 overall and 5-0 in the NTC. Win streak is up to 17 games now. Next up is at St. Elmo to take on SEB.
Neoga falls to 9-18 overall and 3-5 in the NTC. Next up for Neoga is at Tri County on Thursday.
