Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The Effingham County Chamber celebrates the opening of new businesses or locations and welcomes new Chamber members with ribbon cuttings, new member pictures, and other events and activities.
Mill Road Thresherman Association is a group of men and women whose goal is to preserve and demonstrate farming as our grand-fathers and great-grandfathers knew it. They strive to preserve not only the equipment, but also the techniques those old farmers utilized to plant, harvest, and process their crops.
The first Mill Road Thresherman’s demonstration was in 1982 as a group of friends and neighbors who gathered with their antique tractors, implements, hit-and-miss-engines, and cars. Over 400 people attended this demonstration, which made it an easy decision to host the annual show at the Effingham County Fairgrounds beginning in 1983.
The show is a place where families can come to enjoy the sights and sounds of farming’s past by listening to the thumps and grinds of old equipment, clanks of horse harnesses, and sounds bluegrass filtering over the grounds.
