Shawn D. Loy, 51, of Montrose, IL, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 18, 2026.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 23, 2026 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Burial will be in Loy Chapel Cemetery in rural Effingham. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 23, 2026 prior to the service at the funeral home. A Celebration of Life will be held at On The Rox in Altamont following the burial.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to the family.
Shawn was born on May 24, 1975, in Effingham, IL. He was the son of Lonnie and Christy (Lilley) Loy.
Shawn loved the outdoors. He loved to fish, hunt and camp. Shawn worked for Rockin’ J Customs in Effingham, IL.
Shawn is survived by his son, Cody Loy (Hayden Welch) and his grandson Kaius (the light of his life); parents, Lonnie and Christy Loy; sister, Melissa (Shane) Hildebrand and bonus nephew and niece, Dalton and Emma Hildebrand; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Shawn was preceded in death by his brothers, Shannon and Jeremy and grandparents, Lon and May (Newkirk) Loy and Elza and Deloris (Yingst) Lilley.
