Teutopolis, IL-(Effingham Radio)- Teutopolis Unit 50 school board members covered budget, audit, transportation, facilities, and personnel action during Monday night’s meeting.
The board first held a public hearing on the fiscal year 2027 budget, then approved the spending plan later in the meeting. The budget projects about 14-point-44 million dollars in revenue and 14-point-47 million dollars in expenditures, for modest deficit spending of 32-thousand-75 dollars. District officials cited personnel costs and continued facility improvements at Teutopolis Junior High as key expense drivers.
The board also approved the district’s 2025-26 audit from Glass and Shuffett. The audit gave Unit 50 an unmodified opinion, with no reportable internal-control weaknesses or instances of noncompliance. Despite expenses exceeding receipts in fiscal year 2026, the district maintained strong fund balances and remains in ISBE’s highest financial profile category.
Board members also approved nearly 189-thousand dollars in transportation purchases, including a new 14-passenger activity bus and a used school bus. The board accepted Norma Koester’s retirement, approved several coaching and staff hires, and set its next regular meeting for October nineteenth at 6 p.m.
