Altamont, IL-(Effingham Radio)- On July 28, 2026, at 4:20 pm the Effingham County Sheriff’s Department and the Altamont Police Department responded to an unresponsive male at a residence in rural Altamont, Illinois. Officers arrived and discovered the male deceased outside of his garage. He was identified as Roger Combs, age 66 of Altamont, Illinois.
The Coroner’s Office was notified and responded to the scene. It appears the death is from natural causes and no foul play is suspected. Toxicology samples were obtained by the coroner’s office and medical records were requested from his primary physician at the Veterans Affairs Office.
The death remains under investigation by the Effingham County Coroner’s Office and the Effingham County Sheriff’s Department.
