Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The Effingham Police Department, in coordination with the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office and Illinois State Police, is actively investigating an incident in the 900 block of West Jefferson Avenue in Effingham.
While there are no road closures at this time, members of the public are asked to avoid the area to allow investigators to safely and efficiently process the scene.
Based on the information currently available, investigators have determined there is no ongoing threat to the community. This appears to be an isolated incident.
The primary investigation has been assumed by the Illinois State Police, with the Effingham Police Department continuing to assist throughout the investigation.
