
Teutopolis, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The Effingham Police Department arrested Joshua J. Hutson, 36, Teutopolis, at approximately 1:18 P.M. on September 13, 2026, for Grooming, a Class 4 felony under 720 ILCS 5/11-25.
The arrest followed an investigation into online communications involving an individual believed to be under 17 years of age. Hutson was taken into custody after arriving at a location for the purpose of meeting the individual.
“Protecting children from those who seek to exploit them is one of our highest priorities,” said Chief Kurt Davis. “We take these types of allegations extremely seriously, and our officers will continue to thoroughly investigate information brought to our attention and take appropriate action when the evidence supports criminal charges. We encourage anyone who has information regarding the exploitation or grooming of a child to report it to law enforcement.”
This investigation remains ongoing, and detectives continue to follow leads and gather information.
