Effingham County Jail

• Effingham County Sheriff’s Department arrested 42-year-old Richard A. Heil of Bethalto, Illinois. Heil was arrested on a Effingham County failure to appear warrant for possession of a controlled substance. Heil is still in custody.
• Altamont Police Department arrested 65-year-old Vahik Sepanosian of Montrose, California. Sepanosian was arrested on a charge of theft over $500 and less than $10,000. Sepanosian is still in custody.

August 23, 2021 

• At 1:10 P.M. at the intersection of Keller and Ford a vehicle driven by William  K. Baumgartner, 76, Windsor, rear-ended a vehicle driven by Zebadiah W.  Berry, 36, Effingham. No injuries. Baumgartner was ticketed for Failure to  Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident. 

August 24, 2021 

• At 12:46 P.M. at the intersection of 3rd and the I57 NB/I70 EB exit ramp a  vehicle driven by Jacqueline M. McCullough, 18, Watson, struck a vehicle  driven by Emily A. Michels, 21, Montrose. No injuries and no citations.
