Effingham County Jail

• Effingham Police Department arrested 39-year-old Alonzo J. Hoyer of Effingham. Hoyer was arrested on charges of criminal trespassing on property. Hoyer is still in custody.
• Effingham County Sheriff’s Department arrested 34-year-old Crystal N. Smith of Effingham. Smith was arrested on charges of making a false 911 call. Smith is still in custody.
• Effingham Police Department arrested 36-year-old Fernando R. Garcia of Rantoul. Garcia was arrested on charges of domestic battery and is still in custody.
• Effingham Police Department arrested 33-year-old Stephanie N. Dulaney of Effingham. Dulaney was arrested on a Cumberland County failure to appear warrant on charges of writing bad checks. Dulaney posted an undisclosed amount of bail and was released.

CRASHES 

August 5, 2021 

• At 5:59 P.M. at 1007 W. Fayette a vehicle driven by Caleb L. Dean, 30,  Altamont, backed into a pedestrian, Scott J. Willenborg, 45, Sigel, pinning  Willenborg to a parked vehicle owned by Willenborg. Willenborg sustained  injuries but refused treatment. Dean was ticketed for Operating an  Uninsured Motor Vehicle. 

August 6, 2021 

• At 11:12 A.M. west of the intersection of Jefferson and 3rd a vehicle driven  by Debra S. Hudgins, 56, Effingham, struck a parked vehicle owned by Payton  Melton, Charleston. No injuries and no citations. 

August 7, 2021 

• At 12:09 P.M. at the intersection of 4th and Fayette a vehicle driven by  Elizabeth M. Riddle, 19, Louisville, struck a vehicle driven by Joshua D. Miller,  22, Altamont. The impact caused Riddle’s vehicle to leave the roadway and damage landscaping owned by Nirav Patel, Effingham, before striking an  Ameren utility pole and an IDOT traffic standard. No injuries. Riddle was  ticketed for Failure to Yield and Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle.
