Effingham County Jail
- Effingham County Sheriff’s Department arrested 43-year-old Sean M. Polacek of Glen Carbon, Illinois. Polacek was arrested on an Effingham County failure to appear warrant for possession of meth. Polacek is still in custody.
- Effingham County Sheriff’s Department arrested 52-year-old Cindy R. Austin of Altamont. Austin was arrested on charges of DUI/Alcohol, leaving the scene of a crime with failure to report, leaving the scene with vehicle damage, and illegal transportation of alcohol by the driver. Austin posted bond and was released.
- Effingham County Sheriff’s Department arrested 21-year-old Elijah S. Rodman of Effingham. Rodman was arrested on a Effingham County failure to appear warrant theft with intent to sell between $500 to 10,000 and a Shelby County failure to appear warrant theft with intent charges. Rodman posted bail and was released.

- At 3:00 PM at 1704 S. Banker an unknown vehicle struck a parked vehicle owned by Jack A. Ooton, Xenia. No injuries and no citations at this time.
July 8, 2021
- At 8:58 AM at the intersection of W. Fayette and I57 Ramp a vehicle driven by I-Saac Moore, 32, St. Louis, MO, struck a vehicle driven by Randy L. Kramer, 62, Vanceburg, KY. No injuries and no citations.
July 16, 2021
- At 3:07 PM at the intersection of S. Raney and Pike a vehicle driven by Courtney A. Hybarger, 25, Effingham, struck a vehicle owned by Clayton L. Ochs, 28, Newton, then exited the road and struck a fire hydrant owned by the City of Effingham. Hybarger was ticketed for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident. No injuries.
