VANDALIA, IL-(Effingham Radio)-There is storm damage this evening at the Vandalia Airport.
There have been several public comments of a tornado, but that is not confirmed at this time.
The area is under a Flash Flood Warning but there have been no storm warnings issued as of time.
Fayette County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Larry Halleman says the assessment he has at this time is that one hangar at Vandalia Airport was damaged and turned over onto another.
Also, one plane was flipped over.
And, Halleman is also saying that a total of 7 power poles were down in that area.
One listener/Facebook friend says there was a visual of a tornado, but nothing confirmed by the National Weather Service at this time.
There were no storm warnings of any kind in effect at the time of the damage.
