December 1, 2018
- Mattoon Police arrested Michael L. Jackson, 31 years of age of Mattoon, for an active Coles County warrant. The arrest occurred on 12/01/2018 at 4:02pm in the 1600 block of Charleston Ave in Mattoon. The warrant was issued for a probation violation on a 2016 Domestic Battery charge.
December 3, 2018
- Mattoon Police arrested Fernando C. Lemons, 42 years of age of Mattoon, for the offense of Aggravated Assault. The arrest occurred on 12/03/2018 at 1:09am in the 1200 block of Charleston Ave in Mattoon. The charge alleges that on 12/03/18, Mattoon Police were called to the BP Gas Station located at 1202 Charleston Ave in Mattoon, regarding two males fighting. Police arrived to discover Mr. Lemons had been involved in a verbal altercation with another male at the gas station, at which time Mr. Lemons allegedly pulled a knife out in a threatening manner. No contact was made, and no one was injured from the knife. Mr. Lemons was taken to the Coles County Jail.
- Mattoon Police arrested Isaac M. Currey, 20 years of age of Stewardson, IL, for the offense of Retail Theft. The arrest occurred on 12/03/2018 at the Mattoon Police Department. The charge alleges that on 10/24/2018 while at Walmart located at 101 Dettro Drive in Mattoon, Mr. Currey returned an item previously stolen from Walmart in exchange for money. Mr. Currey was issued a court date and was released.
December 5, 2018
- Mattoon Police arrested Nicholai J. Burzawa, 26 years of age of Joliet, IL, for the offenses of Aggravated Domestic Battery and Threatening a Public Official. The arrest occurred on 12/05/2018 at 1:56am in the 1000 block of Prairie Ave in Mattoon. The charge alleges that on 12/05/2016 while in the 1000 block of Prairie Ave, and during a domestic disturbance, Mr. Burzawa struck and choked a female. The charges also allege that while police were investigating the matter, Mr. Burzawa attempted to push past police officers, and threatened violence to officers on scene. Mr. Burzawa was taken to the Coles County Jail.
