Corvettes line the streets of Downtown Effingham as Corvette Fun Fest kicks off.
The City of Effingham’s Tourism Department welcomed Corvette enthusiasts to Effingham with a Downtown Welcome Party on Thursday evening. The welcome party featured the talents of Cayla’s Power Tumbling and Russ Howard, various vendors, and a parade of Corvettes.
We spoke to Jodi Thoele, the Director of Tourism for Effingham. She said that this is the 23rd year that the Corvette Fun Fest has been held and the 8th year that the City of Effingham has held the Downtown Welcome Party.
The Corvette Fun Fest brings a huge crowd of Corvette enthusiasts to the Effingham Area. According to Jodi Thoele, a total of 400-500 Corvettes are expected to be in Effingham for the Corvette Fun Fest. These crowds are terrific for local businesses in Effingham,
We also spoke to Corvette owner/enthusiast, Todd Garfield, of Martinton, IL. Having been to the Corvette Fun Fest for three years, he said that his favorite part of the festivities is seeing all the different Corvettes.
Corvette Fun Fest newcomer, John Daigle, of Elwood, IL, was in awe of the quantity of Corvettes that come to Effingham for the Fun Fest.
The Corvette Fun Fest is being held at Mid America Motorworks. The Fun Fest includes seminars, a swapfest, and a Saturday night concert from Dennis DeYoung from Styx. Corvette Fun Fest will conclude on Sunday.
