The Reds added another run in the fourth on a RBI groundout by Barnhart to make it 3-1. The Cardinals scored in the bottom of the fourth on a Gyorko RBI to make it 3-2. The Cardinals tied the game at three with a solo home run by Holliday in the fifth. The Reds retook the lead in the seventh with a Votto RBI single. The Cardinals tied the game back at 4 on a Moss RBI single. The Reds then scored three runs in the eighth thanks to a Holt RBI double, Hamilton RBI single, and a Cozart RBI single to make it 7-4.
Neither starting pitcher got the decision. Reds starter Finnegan gave up 3 runs on 6 hits while striking out 5 and walking 6 over 6 innings. Lorenzen got the win in relief. Cardinals starter Leake gave up 3 runs on 6 hits while walking 4 over 6 innings. Bowman took the loss.
