Washington, DC-(Effingham Radio)- The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is stepping up its investigation into General Motors vehicles for engine failure risks to include newer model years. The federal agency said Friday the new probe expands one of two existing recall investigations for the L87 six-point-two liter V-8 engines that NHTSA first began investigating in 2025.
The issue stems from manufacturing defects in connecting rod and crankshaft engine components, which GM said was a supplier manufacturing and quality issue. Impacted vehicles include the Chevrolet Silverado 15-hundred, Chevrolet Tahoe, Chevrolet Suburban and GMC Sierra 15-hundred, GMC Yukon and GMC Yukon XL and Cadillac Escalade.
