The Effingham Flaming Hearts softball team improved to 18-4 Tuesday with a 1-0 win over Teutopolis. The game took 10 innings to determine a winner, with Madison Weis’ solo home run in the top of the 10th being the difference. Both teams received standout performances from their pitchers.
Kadi Bories pitched all 10 innings for Teutopolis in the loss. She gave up just the one run and struck out 9. Aly Armstrong was the winning pitcher for Effingham. She pitched 10 shutout innings, giving up just three hits and striking out 17. With the loss Teutopolis is now 25-3. The Shoes are back in action Thursday against Robinson. Effingham begins the city series with St. Anthony today.
