Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The Noon Rotary Club of Effingham proudly announces the dedication of a Peace Pole, a lasting symbol of peace, understanding, and goodwill within our community, located at Effingham Public Library.
The Peace Pole bears the universal message, “May Peace Prevail on Earth,” and is displayed in languages that represent the heritage of Effingham County (English, German, Irish Gaelic and Spanish) as a reminder that peace transcends borders, cultures, and generations.
The pole located at the library is one of three that will be placed around Effingham over the next few months – one at the Lake Land College Effingham Technology Center and at Community Park next to the Rotary pavilion. Joining thousands of Peace Poles located throughout the world, these monuments serve as a visible commitment to fostering respect, kindness, and cooperation among all people.
The Peace Pole project reflects Rotary International’s mission of Service Above Self and its long-standing commitment to peacebuilding efforts locally and around the globe. Through this project, the Noon Rotary Club seeks to inspire individuals to embrace peace in their daily lives and strengthen connections throughout our community.
“The Peace Pole stands as a reminder that peace begins with each of us,” said Noon Rotary President Chris Debolt . “We hope it encourages reflection, understanding, and a shared commitment to creating a more peaceful world.”
Rotarians gathered for the dedication ceremony on July 8 to celebrate this meaningful addition to the community landscape.

The Noon Rotary Club extends its appreciation to all individuals and organizations who supported this project and helped make this symbol of peace a reality. We especially thank Effingham High School teacher Ty Totten and the students in his Manufacturing class who developed the poles.
