Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The Effingham City Council met for their regular meeting Tuesday and discussed and acted on numerous items.
Effingham City Council approved a $387k design engineering agreement with Farnsworth Group to extend Ford Avenue to Rickelman Avenue at Fourth Street. The city also bought land from a land trust for $28,500 to support the project.
A proposed Community Park storage shed and restroom project was tabled after coming in over budget. Council members favored trimming costs from the storage shed, while keeping the restroom facility intact because of the Park District site agreement.
The council also reviewed a $91k downtown audio system for shopping and events, discussed Performance Center improvements, storm sewer work south of Wabash Avenue, a South Fifth Street rehab project, and a possible China Buffet liquor license.
