Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- Effingham County Regional Airport commissioners reviewed several improvement projects, including the east-west runway extension, which has been open for about two weeks.
A ribbon cutting is planned later this season. Officials said lighting issues on the extension have been addressed, while final seeding along the project area is expected in September.
Work on the airport’s new hangar building is also close to completion. Airport Manager Jerry Tate said the project should be reviewed within the next week or two, with tenants hopefully moving in by August 1.
Commissioners also discussed the need for a larger fuel tank, possible fencing near the runway extension, striping work, and a Phase Two apron expansion that could be let this winter.
