Jackson Township, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by the Effingham Police:
WHAT:
- Fatal Single Vehicle Accident
WHERE:
- 1000th Road 1/3 mile north of 800th Avenue, Jackson Township
WHEN:
- Feb. 20, 2022 at approximately 3:02 p.m.
VEHICLES:
- Unit 1 – Gray 2004 Ford SES
DRIVERS:
- Unit 1 – 40 year old John R. James of Watson
PRELIMINARY:
- Preliminary investigative details indicate the following occurred: Unit 1 was traveling northbound on 1000th road 1/3 mile north of 800th avenue in Jackson Township. The left rear tire began shredding, causing the vehicle to lose control and struck the west guardrail on the passenger side door. Unit 1 then slid on the guardrail overturned over the guardrail, and landed right side up in the ditch. The driver then crawled out of the vehicle. The driver was transported to St. Anthony’s hospital and he later succumbed to his injuries.
All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
