MARION COUNTY, IL-(Effingham Radio)- Two Clay County residents were injured in separate accidents that occurred in Marion County on Friday night.
According to a press release from the Illinois State Police, the first accident occurred on I-57 northbound at milepost 119 at 9:50pm.
The report states that a vehicle driven by 36 year old, Brittany L McKnelly, of Louisville was traveling northbound I-57 when she lost control of the vehicle on ice on the bridge.
The vehicle slid off into the median and overturned onto its drivers side, where the vehicle came to a rest.
The passenger, 46 year old, Charmen L Dawkins, of Clay City was taken to Salem Hospital for minor injuries.
The second press release from the Illinois State Police states that the second accident occurred at the same milepost at 11:44pm.
The report states that a vehicle driven by 27 year old, Morgan N Boyd, of Louisville was traveling on I-57 and was attempting to pass another vehicle, when Boyd lost control of the vehicle and began to slid on the icy roadway.
Boyd overcorrected and left the roadway to the right, overturning several times, and coming to a rest in a field.
Boyd was taken to Salem Hospital for treatment.
Boyd was cited for driving too fast for conditions, driver not wearing a seatbelt, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
