ST ELMO, IL-(Effingham Radio)- A St Elmo teen was injured in a pedestrian/vehicle accident that occurred one mile north of St Elmo on Tuesday.
According to a report from the Illinois State Police, the accident occurred on 2150 East at 7:06pm.
The report states that a 17 year old male juvenile from St Elmo was walking southbound in the northbound lane of 2150E.
At the same time, a vehicle driven by a 16 year old male juvenile from St Elmo was traveling northbound and had just came over a hill crest.
The driver of the vehicle stated to authorities the he observed the pedestrian, but was unable to stop to avoid a collision.
The pedestrian was transported by Rural Med to the St Elmo High School, where he was airlifted to St John’s Hospital by Air Evac.
The pedestrian was cited for improper walking on a roadway.
