STE. MARIE, IL-(Effingham Radio)-Two people were injured in a four-wheeler accident that occurred five miles southeast of Ste Marie on Saturday afternoon.
According to a press release from the Illinois State Police, the accident occurred on Jasper County Road 2150E at 2:27pm.
The release states that a four-wheeler driven by 18 year old, Cole M Horner, of Dundas was traveling northbound on Jasper County Rd 2150E, when he stopped due to a hat that had flown off.
Another four-wheeler driven by 19 year old, Seth R Meinhart, of Newton was traveling behind Horner and rear-ended the Horner four-wheeler.
Meinhart and his passenger, 20 year old, Stacey C Smithenry, of Newton were ejected from the four-wheeler.
Both Meinhart and Smithenry sustained injuries and were taken to Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.
Meinhart was then later flown to Carle Hospital.
Meinhart and Horner were cited for operating a non-highway vehicle on a road.
Meinhart was also cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
