Effingham, Ill. (Marion County) – Yesterday morning. The Hannibal-Courier Post (C-P) reported on the lawsuit saying, “Lyndon Bode, the county’s presiding commissioner, learned late Friday and confirmed Monday morning that Ameren of Illinois has withdrawn all its lawsuits against Marion County concerning the utility company’s Mark Twain Transmission Project.”
In a statement received earlier today by Ameren’s Media Relations Manager, Lori Light, they stated, “We believe this represents a significant step toward the Mark Twain Transmission Project’s progression in delivering customer benefits to the Northeast Missouri region.’
“We will continue to listen and work with all landowners, community members, county commissioners and other local and state agencies as the project moves forward to deliver greater energy reliability, economic growth and improved access to clean energy sources.”
The company gave a special attribute to ATXI Senior Project Manager, Jim Jontry, for his efforts on this matter.
According to C-P the initial lawsuits were filed against the county in the fall of 2016.
Representatives from the County Commission were contacted however there was not an immediate response.
