Two people were injured in separate accidents that occurred on Tuesday.
The first accident occurred at 8:00am on US 50 at Fox River Bridge west of Olney. According to a report from the Illinois State Police, 60 year old, Toni A Fisher, of Grayville was traveling east on US 50, just west of the bridge, when she left the roadway to the right to avoid striking a vehicle that was stopped in traffic. Fisher’s vehicle then struck a guardrail, continuing down the embankment, and struck a tree. Fisher was taken to Richland Memorial Hospital for treatment and was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
The second accident occurred on I-70 E/B, west of Greenup at 11:52am. According to a report from the Illinois State Police, 19 year old, Kaytlin Starwalt, of Avon, Ohio was traveling eastbound on I-70 when she reportedly experienced an issue with her vehicle’s steering. The vehicle veered to the left, entering the median, and re-entered the roadway. Starwalt overcorrected, causing the vehicle to re-enter the median and the vehicle to roll onto its top. She was taken to HSHS St Anthony’s Memorial Hospital and was cited for improper lane usage.
