One person was injured in an accident that occurred at 1:38am on Friday on I-57 in Effingham County.
According to a report by the Illinois State Police, a semi driven by 41 year old, Shelli R Ferguson, of Texas was traveling northbound on I-57 when the truck lost part of its load, large pieces of metal, on the roadway. Ferguson left the scene and semis driven by 55 year old, Gilberto Gil Medina, of Mexico, 48 year old, Cedric Walker, of Tennessee, and 56 year old, William D Phillips, of Tennessee crashed into the spilled load. The semis driven by Walker and Phillips needed towed and Walker was taken to HSHS St Anthony’s Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Ferguson was cited for leaving the scene of an injury crash, failure to render aid/information, improper lane usage, unsecure load, false log book, and wanted on warrant.
All persons listed are innocent until proven guilty in the court of law.
