(Springfield, IL) — Folks making the lowest wages in Illinois could soon be in line for a big raise. Democrats in the Illinois House yesterday approved a plan to hike Illinois’ minimum wage from eight dollars 25 cents-an-hour to 15 dollars-an-hour over the next five years. Democrats say the plan will help millions of low wage workers. Republicans and business groups say a 15 dollar-an-hour minimum wage will cost many of those low wage workers their jobs.
