April 30, 2017
- 19 year old, Jacob A. Pontious, of Altamont was arrested by the Effingham County Sheriff’s Department for leaving the scene of an accident. Pontious posted $150.
- 22 year old, Jacob C. White, of Dieterich was arrested by the Effingham County Sheriff’s Department on an Effingham County mittimus for 90 days for aggravated battery.
- 26 year old, Anthony A. Kaufman, of Shumway was arrested by the Effingham County Sheriff’s Department for driving while under the influence of alcohol and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Kaufman posted $100 and a valid driver’s license.
May 1, 2017
- 21 year old, Cody R. Loy, of Effingham was arrested by the Effingham Police Department on an Effingham County warrant for possession of less than 5 grams of Methamphetamine.
- 32 year old, Enrique Gonzales, of Effingham was arrested by the Effingham County Sheriff’s Department for driving while under the influence of alcohol, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, no valid driver’s license, and unlawful display of registration.
- 20 year old, Kayla M Tego, of Effingham was arrested by the Effingham Police Department for domestic battery.

April 28, 2017
- At 11:29am an unknown vehicle struck a parked vehicle owned by Lucille A. Reardon, of Effingham at 1104 W. Fayette. No injuries or citations were reported at this time.
April 29, 2017
- At 10:36am, a semi being drove by 45 year old, Reyes M. Bustamante, of Grand Forks, North Dakota backed into Sheena N. Duncan, of Effingham’s vehicle. This collision also damaged the asphalt parking lot owned by Walmart at 1204 Avenue of Mid America. No injuries or citations were reported.
- at 12:30pm 55 year old, Joanna L. Price, of Effingham rear ended 39 year old, Kimberly S. Ochs, of Newton north of the intersection at Keller and Evergreen. No injuries or citations were reported.
- At 6:41pm 29 year old, Luis Palacios-Aguirre, of Teutopolis rear ended 50 year old, Victoria Wilson-Agle, of Yorktown, Virginia at the intersection at Keller and Ford. No injuries or citations were reported.

- 20 year old, Kayla M. Tego, of Effingham was cited for domestic battery.
Invetigations
- A theft that occurred from the construction site at 1200 McGrath between the hours of 5:00pm on April 27th and 7:30am on April 28th. Taken was approximately $4,000 worth of copper.
- A theft that occurred in a residential yard in the 700th block of South Willow at approximately 4:00pm on April 29th. Taken was an undetermined amount of cash from a cash box.
Mattoon Police Department
Arrests
- 41 year old, Chad D. Veach, of Mattoon was arrested on Saturday, April 29th at 9:39pm at Old State Village for domestic battery. Veach allegedly battered a female.
- 52 year old, William G. Orr, of Mattoon was arrested on Monday, May 1st at 1:48am in the 2300th block of Champaign Avenue for disorderly conduct and resisting a peace officer. Orr allegedly threatened individuals and struggled with officers while being arrested.
