WASHINGTON — Congressman John Shimkus is urging President Trump to talk to Congress before taking further action in Syria. This after a 59-missile strike was launched against a Syrian airbase yesterday in response to chemical attack that killed multiple civilians.
“I hope President Trump will seek legislative support for any possible future actions,” Con. Shimkus said in a statement on Friday. “In 2013 I cautioned President Obama about military intervention in Syria. I also questioned why we are always the ones to respond, and why the international community may come late, but never early or on time, to these situations.
Shumkus said that Russia should have kept its end of the bargain from 2013 to remove all chemical weapons from Syria. He called the attack, which claimed the lives of civilians and children, a “war crime.”
