Three vehicles were involved in a crash on US Route 40 and 900th Street Monday evening.
At 5:26 p.m., a vehicle driven by 30 year old Jennifer R. Deweese, of Effingham, was stopped facing eastbound on Route 40 to turn left onto 900th Street. Another vehicle driven by 36 year old Vicki Grobengiser, of Altamont, was behind Dewesse on Route 40. A third vehicle driven by 36 year old James L. Riley, of Ramsey, was also eastbound on Route 40, but was unable to slow down in time to avoid rear-ending Grobengiser’s vehicle, causing her vehicle to collide with Deweese’s. Grobengiser and Deweese were transported to St. Anthony’s Hospital in Effingham for treatment.
Riley was cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident.
