A Chicago man was arrested in Mattoon on Monday after allegedly battering a woman.
Sunday evening, Mattoon Police responded to a domestic disturbance in 1800 block of S. 9th Street. On arrival, police found 21-year-old Steven A. Terry Barron, of Chicago, injured with knife wounds. The injuries were not life-threatening and he was transported to Sarah Bush Lincoln Healthcare Center for treatment.
Further investigation revealed that Barron had allegedly struck a women and had battered her with a broom stick. The woman had used the knife on Barron in self-defense.
Once released from SLBHC, Barron was arrested on charges of Domestic Battery early Monday. An Illinois Department of Corrections was also obtained for Barron. The second arrest warrant alleges that Barron was on currently on parole from prison for Aggravated Armed Robbery with a firearm when the batter allegedly occurred. He was taken to the Coles County Jail.
