Two people were injured in a crash that occurred on I-70, East of Montrose, early Saturday morning.
At approximately 2:29am, 52 year old, Akeel Alzayadi, of Detroit, Michigan was either parked or moving slowly in a semi truck/trailer in the right lane of Interstate 70, about one mile East of Montrose. 35 year old, Adam Groff, of Independence, Missouri was also traveling in a semi truck/trailer in the right lane of Interstate 70; and was approaching Alzayadi. However, Groff was unable to see the other semi as Alzayadi did not have any lights on, resulting in Groff rear-ending Alzayadi’s semi. Alzayadi’s semi came to a rest in the right lane of traffic and Groff’s semi came to a rest in the right ditch. Both Alzayadi and Groff were transported to HSHS St Anthony’s Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Akeel Alzayadi was charged with no lights when required and violating the minimum speed regulation.
