Two were injured Wednesday night at approximately 6:39 in Douglas Township at the intersection 1600th Avenue and 1400th Street.
The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office reported that a vehicle driven by 34-year-old Dawn M. Erickson, of Watson, was stopped at a stop sign and began to pull away when her vehicle was struck from behind by a vehicle driven by a 17-year-old from Casey. Erickson’s vehicle was pushed across the intersection in the collision, but she remained uninjured. The 17-year-old, and another 17-year-old passenger were both transported to St. Anthony’s Hospital in Effingham for treatment. The 17-year-old driver is charged with Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident.
