Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The forecast for this afternoon has been updated, and the chance for severe weather has increased.
As a warm front lifts across the area today, scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop. Portions of southeast Illinois have been upgraded to a Slight (level 2) Risk of severe weather. Damaging winds are the main concern, though there is a low potential for a few tornadoes as well. The main time frame is from 2 pm to 8 pm.
Chilly air moves in this weekend. Low temperatures dropping into the 30s will bring patchy frost potential Saturday and Sunday mornings. Protect sensitive plants and cover tender vegetation before heading to bed.
