St. Louis, MO-(Effingham Radio)- A St. Louis man who was adopted at birth has learned his biological dad is an iconic, Grammy-winning musician.
Fifty-eight-year old Michael Goessling was raised in St. Louis after his adoption, and recently took an online DNA test. That information led him to reunite with his birth mom, and then to a phone call with his birth father: who, it turns out, is Michael McDonald. Goessling was on the phone with the famed singer-songwriter and member of the Doobie Brothers when it slowly dawned on him who he was speaking to. He said he asked the man “Are you Michael Mcdonald” and says the answer was “Yeah, I’m afraid so.”
McDonald and the biological mom were just 14-years-old when Goessling was conceived, and the musician says he’s always worried about the son he gave up so many years ago. He’s now reunited with Goessling and says “The real rock stars in this story are his adoptive parents.”
