Effingham County Sheriff Paul Kuhns took time during the county board meeting to recognize individuals for their exceptional service. Additional board discussions included intergovernmental agreements for public transportation oversight, allocations for local fireworks displays in Effingham and Dieterich, and the approval to name the county airport board room in memory of Tony Siemer. The board also addressed local recycling initiatives, approved bids for road maintenance, passed a new nuisance ordinance, and encouraged the public to support grant efforts for economic development.
