Cumberland County, IL-(Effingham Radio)- Illinois State Police Troop 9 is investigating a deadly three-truck crash on Interstate 70 in Cumberland County. The crash happened Friday, June 27th, around 8:36 a.m. in the westbound lanes near milepost 114 at Greenup.
According to the preliminary investigation, the collision involved three truck tractor semi-trailers. One of the drivers was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not released the driver’s name or details on what led to the crash.
Westbound I-70 was closed for several hours while emergency crews responded and investigators worked the scene. Traffic reopened at approximately 5:25 p.m. State Police say no further information is available at this time.
