Carlyle Lake, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is excited to welcome visitors to Carlyle Lake for another fun and safe recreation season. Carlyle Lake is the perfect destination for a variety of activities, from fishing and camping to boating and biking. Whether you’re exploring the great outdoors or participating in our scheduled events, safety remains a top priority.
Wear Your Life Jacket:
- Whether you’re fishing, boating, or swimming, always wear a properly fitted life jacket. Studies show that over two-thirds of drowning victims had no intention of entering the water, highlighting the importance of being prepared.
Stay Sober:
- Alcohol impairs your ability to respond quickly and make sound judgments. For the safety of yourself and others, keep alcohol consumption to a minimum and avoid drinking while engaging in water-related activities.
Follow Boating Regulations:
- Adhere to speed limits, respect navigational markers, and maintain a safe distance from other boats and swimmers to prevent accidents.
Check the Weather:
- Weather conditions can change rapidly. Stay updated on forecasts and be ready to seek shelter if necessary.
Life jacket loaner stations are available for use at Keyesport, Dam West, McNair, and Coles Creek beaches and boat ramps. Visitors are encouraged to borrow a life jacket from these stations for their activities and return it when finished. Always wear your life jacket when in, on, or near the water to ensure a fun and safe experience at Carlyle Lake.
