
Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- On Monday April 27, 2026 at approximately 12:45 pm the Effingham County Sheriff’s Department and the Illinois State Police responded to a two-vehicle head-on crash on Rt. 45 just south of Heartville, Illinois. Three individuals were injured and transported to HSHS St. Anthony Hospital emergency department by Rural Med EMS.
Daniel Bushur, age 61 of rural Dieterich, Illinois passed away at the emergency room at 2:36 pm. The Coroner’s Office was called and responded to the emergency room.
Preliminary information indicated Daniel Bushur was traveling northbound on Rt. 45 and for some unknown reason he crossed the centerline and struck a vehicle head-on driven by Miguel Garcia-Gregorio, age 45 of Flora, Illinois who was southbound on Rt. 45. Miguel was later transferred to a regional trauma center. His passenger was treated and released from the hospital.
Note: At the time of the crash, it was very windy and visibility was limited due to the excessive rainfall in the area.
Medical records were requested for Daniel Bushur and toxicology samples were obtained by the coroner’s office. These results should be completed in about three weeks.
The case remains under investigation by the Effingham County Coroner’s Office and the Illinois State Police.
